Crowdfunder To Raise Funds For Worthing Blood Bike Damaged In Hit-And-Run

Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers (SERV Sussex) has set up a Crowdfunder to help raise money for repairs to their motorbike, damaged while it was parked on a street.

It happened on September 1, but the costs, they say, of getting it back on the road are substantial and 'as a charity, we need help to reach this aim'.

"Any funds raised will be used to buy the parts required and pay for the labour needed for the project."

SERV Sussex provides a free, rapid and reliable means of transporting emergency blood products, patient notes, time-critical laboratory samples and test results to hospitals at night, on request.

As its reputation has grown, the charity has been approached by midwives and milkbanks to collect and deliver human donor milk across the South-East.

Described as 'enthusiastic and empathetic volunteers', they currently provide free support to Hearts Milk Bank in co-ordination with the Sussex Lactation Consultant and midwives, collecting untreated milk for onward transport to Harpenden and delivering milk to disadvantaged mothers at their homes if they are unable to get to the hospital.

They also provide support to milk banks in London, Surrey, Sussex and to the Trevor Mann Neonatal Unit in Brighton.

SERV Sussex is a registered charity (No. 284455) initially set up in 1981.
