Ditching Fatal Collision: GoFundMe Page Set Up for Victim's Partner And Unborn Daughter

Over 300 people have donated to a GoFundMe fundraiser set up for the family of the 22-year-old victim of a 'hit-and-run' collision on Sunday (July 3).

The incident occurred on the B2112 New Road, between Ditchling and Clayton, shortly after 6am.

Jack Brandon, 22, from Hassocks was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

Now someone close to Jack and his partner Sophie, who is carrying their unborn daughter, has set up a GoFundMe page to support his young family.

Oliver Dommett from Littlehampton wrote:

"With great sadness and a broken heart I am writing this. Jack was tragically taken from us Sunday morning in a hit and run.

"Jack was an amazing person, a real character with an unmatched sense of humour, Jack was only in his early 20s but you wouldn’t find a harder worker with a heart of gold who would do anything for anyone .

"What makes the loss even more tragic is that jack was on the brink of having his own young family with his baby girl due in October.

"I am asking for donations to help support and set Jack's new family up and allow his partner Sophie to grieve at this time without the worry of the financial woes of becoming a new parent.

"The money will allow Sophie to stay in the home they have built for their new family in anticipation of their daughter's arrival in October.

"The money will also aide anything they need starting a family.

"Thank you for reading and possibly donating."

He also thanks everyone for funds donated already, which currently stand at 318 donations at just under £11,000.

Comments from donators on the fundraiser page describe Jack as a "kindhearted, fun-loving guy", a "brilliant person" and a "lovely bloke".
