A car driver was injured this morning when a cylinder reportedly came loose from a trailer being towed along a busy single-carriageway road in West Sussex.
The object then collided with a van and a car on the A283 Steyning by-pass, at around 8am.
Emergency services closed the carriageway for about an hour.
The motorist's injuries were minor, according to police, but an investigation into what happened has been opened.
