Earth Day 2023: Council Asks Adur & Worthing Residents To Donate Five Minutes

Adur and Worthing council is asking residents if they can spare five minutes of their time (or more) on Saturday (April 22) "to help make Adur and Worthing look its best".

Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day 2023 - the international day of action when people around the world are encouraged to work together to help the environment.

The theme of Earth Day 2023 is Invest In Our Planet, so visitors and residents from across Adur and Worthing are being asked to invest five minutes of their time into helping clean the streets, parks and beaches.

The council will be running a beach clean from Worthing Coastal Office in Marine Parade, between Heene Road and the Splash Pad, from 9am to 5pm on Saturday. They're offering to lend litter pickers and bags to any members of the community who want to come along and get involved.

As the weather is improving, more and more people are enjoying the beautiful open spaces in the area - but unfortunately not everyone is putting their litter in the bins provided.

"We’re doing all we can to pick up rubbish, but any time you can give to stop crisp packets, drink containers and other bits of plastic from polluting our paths and open spaces helps make Adur and Worthing to be better for everyone."

The council asks that people don’t put themselves in any danger, "so please don’t go into the road to collect rubbish or try to pick up hazardous items like broken glass by hand".

They’ll be posting reminders on the Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council Facebook pages through the week. And on Saturday you can upload your photos of how you invested five minutes of your time into helping clean up your neighbourhood.
