East Preston: Firefighters Put Out Flames On Residential Street

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service

Firefighters this morning (January 28) have put out flames in a property on a residential street in East Preston.

The street is just south of the A259, and near Angmering Railway Station.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said:

"Joint Fire Control mobilised fire engines from East Preston, Littlehampton and Worthing to the scene.

"Upon arrival crews were faced with a fire involving the first floor of a property, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly got to work extinguishing the fire using two high pressure hose reels and a covering jet, as well as a hydrant.

"Fortunately all residents have been accounted for, and the fire has now been extinguished.

"Firefighters remain at the scene damping down and turning over.

"We would urge members of the public to avoid the area for the time being, and residents living nearby should keep their doors and windows closed."
