East Sussex man jailed for child sex offences against young girls

A 34-year-old man from East Sussex has been jailed for 14 years and three months after being found guilty of six offences of sexual assault against two girls under the age of 13. Craig McAndrew, previously from Newhaven, subsequently of no fixed address but living in the Watford Area, committed the offences in Newhaven between 2016 and 2018. Police said four of the offences resulted in a ten year sentence, while the remaining two added three years, to run consecutively. A further 15 months, also to run consecutively, was given to him on extended licence and for absconding from court during the September trial. McAndrew will be a registered sex offender for life. DC Julie Nightingale, of the East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit, said: "McAndrew systematically preyed on these two vulnerable girls for his own sexual gratification. "Both bravely supported our investigation throughout and gave evidence against McAndrew at the trial via videolink."
