Eastbourne Fire: Residents In Temporary Housing

In the course of Sunday afternoon (February 14), More Radio updated this story as it emerged the body of a man was found at the location of the fire.

Firefighters have been called "heroic" by the local authority in Eastbourne, after they put out flames overnight in a sea-front building.

Crews from seven locations were called to Seaside at 2.07am today (February 14), when a fire began on the first floor of a residential property.

According to East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, the firefighters came from Eastbourne, Bexhill, Hastings, Pevensey, Herstmonceux, Hailsham and Seaford.

Six sets of breathing apparatus were in use, as crew members successfully tackled the flames.

The borough council said this morning it's accommodated everyone affected.

The authority has also promised to support to those who needed it, in the days to come.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was due to begin later today.
