Eastbourne Flat Fire: Occupant Died From Smoke Inhalation

Police have confirmed that the man whose body was found after a flat fire in Eastbourne's Seaside Road on Sunday (February 14) died of smoke inhalation.

After a a post-mortem on Wednesday (February 17), police said he's believed to be Thomas Doyle, who was 33 and living in the room in Cloister Court where the fire broke out around 2am.

However, a formal identification is yet to be carried out.

Relatives, living at a number of locations outside Sussex, have been informed.

Officers added that, at the time of writing, the death was being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

The coroner's officer was continuing enquiries.
