Eastbourne man jailed after caught speeding two and a half times the limit in Brighton

A man has been jailed for 28 days after being caught speeding at 75mph in a 30mph zone, and claiming it was a non-existent person,  along Brighton seafront. Troy Pynn, 24, of Fountains Close, Eastbourne, was caught by activating a speed camera on the A259 Marine Parade while driving a black Audi A5 Quattro Sport in the early hours of February 10 2018. His vehicle was also caught speeding at 37mph a day previously (February, 9). In response to enquiries to locate the driver Pynn nominated another person, one that did  not appear to exist with a telephone number that didn't work. Police later confirmed that Pynn had booked a room at the Jurys Inn in Stroudley Road, Brighton, on February 9, and witnesses saw him leaving the hotel in the vehicle. He has since pleaded guilty to committing an act or series of acts with intent to pervert the course of justice and sentenced to 28 days in prison, disqualified from driving for six weeks and ordered to pay £1,500 towards the costs of prosecution. Chris Raynor, of the Sussex Police Camera and Ticket Process Team, said: "It was clear that Pynn was the driver at the time of the offence and had falsely nominated another person in order to avoid responsibility for his actions. "In doing so, he committed a more serious offence of perverting the course of justice, which is why he is now serving time in prison."
