It's been confirmed that an elderly man died in a house fire that broke out in Horsham last night.
Firefighters were called to Bishopric in the town at around 7.30 on Monday evening.
Police say another man, also a senior citizen, is in hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and burns.
It's understood his condition is not life-threatening.
Crews arrived from Billingshurst, Crawley and Horsham itself to tackle the flames.
According to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, their officers found a "well-developed" fire on the first floor of the property.
At this stage, officers aren't treating the incident as suspicious, but a full investigation has begun involving WSFRS specialists and Sussex Police crime scene investigators.
