Elderly woman left with 'serious' head injuries after van collides with her while using stroller

An elderly woman is in hospital with serious head injuries after a van collided with her in Hurstpierpoint on Friday (October, 18). Police said the pedestrian, who is local, was using a four-wheeled stroller when the Mercedes-Benz Vito van reportedly collided with her close to the Co-Op store in the High Street shortly before 5pm. Officers said she was initially taken to the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, but later transferred to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. She is continuing to be treated for serious head injuries, and is in a stable condition, according to police. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 1185 of 18/10.
