Electricity Pylon Fire At Wisborough Green — Supplies Now Restored

Wisborough Green's church — with the electricity ON.

Power supplies in part of West Sussex were disrupted overnight last night (March 4–5) by a fire involving an electricity pylon.

Crews from Billingshurst and Petworth went to Wisborough Green at 10pm on Thursday night, where they asked residents to stay indoors while they fought the fire.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said members of the public on Butts Meadow called to report the incident.

Crews sent out by joint fire control centre were able to use a single hose reel to help bring the burning under control.

A cordon was set up, and residents encouraged to stay indoors.

At the same time, electricity supplies in the immediate area were disrupted, and engineers attended from Southern Electricity and Scottish Power.

A WSFRS spokesman said:

"Our crews booked away from the incident at 1.29am and power has since been restored to the area.

"Crews returned to the scene this morning to reinspect, and confirmed there were no further signs of fire."
