Emergency Crews Aid Homeowners As Burst Main Causes Residential Flooding In Crawley

Firefighters were among those who aided property owners in Crawley yesterday (Saturday), after a large water main burst.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue service said that at least 17 homes were flooded after the water main burst near the Horsham Road roundabout.

The resulting flood was said to be 'significant', and approximately 30cm deep, spreading to cover a large area up to Pelham Drive and Breezehurst Drive.

Fire crews used pumps to try and stem the flow of water from affecting more properties, whilst Southern Water engineers worked to fix the main.

Support was given to the affected homeowners by the local authority, along with the Red Cross.
