Emergency Services Tackle Late-Night Rural House Fire

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service

Firefighters from two locations were called out late last night (February 21) to a house west of Storrington where flames had taken hold.

Crews from Storrington Fire Station, accompanied by other crew members and two fire engines from Worthing Fire Station, attended the scene.

According to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, officers found a fire in the hearth area of the building.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus then began work to bring the fire under control.

They used one hose reel and chimney gear to extinguish the flames.

The service said the fire had begun accidentally.

Firefighters remained at the scene damping down and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no further hotspots.

The fire caused up to five square metres of damage, but no casualties were reported.

The crews reported leaving the incident at 2.14am.
