Family Of Missing Worthing Woman Make Appeal On Five-Year Anniversary

The family of Georgina Gharsallah have made an appeal for her whereabouts on the 5th anniversary of the day she went missing, in collaboration with charity Missing People.

Georgina, aged 30 at the time, was last seen in Worthing, on March 7, 2018. CCTV images captured two possible images of Georgina throughout the day: at 9:45am, she is seen entering Clifton Food and Wines on Clifton Road; in the afternoon at around 4:00pm, Georgina is seen again on CCTV walking with another woman along Chapel Road in Worthing Town Centre.

The shopkeeper had been unable to change the time on his camera after the clocks went forward.

At the time of her disappearance, Georgina was described as Southern European with Arabian features, 5’ 2” with a slim build, brown eyes and dark shoulder-length hair, often worn in a top-knot style. She has a Monroe-type piercing above the left side of her lip. She speaks with a Southern-English accent. Georgina was last seen wearing a grey coat with a white fur collar, jeans, and grey ankle boots. She was holding two plastic bags and a shoulder bag.

Since her disappearance, Georgina’s family have worked tirelessly to keep search efforts for her alive, in the hopes that the mother-of-two will be found safe and well. Georgina’s mother, Andrea Gharsallah, has also sought counselling and publicity support from Missing People.

The family have created a Facebook page dedicated to Georgina’s search, including any updates on the case and Andrea will be hosting a vigil in Georgina’s memory on Tuesday, March 7, marking the fifth anniversary of her daughter’s disappearance. More details can be found on the ‘Missing Person – Georgina Gharsallah’ page here.

In 2021, Andrea also appeared on the second season of The Missing podcast. In the interview, she shares fond memories of her daughter’s personality and life before appealing to the public for any information on her whereabouts. The episode, and significant questions that could help the investigation, can be listened to here.

In December 2019, after experiencing high dissatisfaction with Sussex Police’s handling of Georgina’s missing investigation, the Gharsallahs were forced to carry out their own reconstruction of Georgina’s last movements to jog the memories of anyone who may have encountered her on that day and to report any possible sightings.

As five years approach with no major developments as to Georgina’s whereabouts, Andrea remains heartbroken yet determined as ever to reunite with her beloved daughter and for her grandchildren to be reunited with their mother. In a direct appeal to Georgina, Andrea said:

“Dear Georgina, five long years without you, it’s been a lifetime for us. There’s not a day goes by that we don’t think About you. Your boys miss you so so much and wait for their mummy at the window. Wherever you are we send our love. Our daughter, our sister, our mummy. Forever in our hearts Georgina. Until we meet again xx”

To help the search, the public can visit Georgina’s appeal on the Missing People website here, from where they can report a sighting, download her Missing appeal as a poster, and share it as widely as possible via Facebook and Twitter.

Missing People’s Publicity Officer, Ndella Senghore, said:
