Fans Return To Amex Stadium As Brighton Earn Draw Against Chelsea

Fans have returned to Brighton's Amex Stadium for the first time since restrictions were imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Around 2,500 home supporters were allowed into the ground to watch Brighton's pre-season friendly against Chelsea.

It's the first time fans have been able to enjoy live football in a stadium since March.

A host of social distancing measures were in place, including extra space between spectators.

The match was part of the Government's pilot scheme to get fans back in stadiums and arenas to watch live action.

On the pitch, Chelsea's £35m signing, Timo Werner opened the scoring by netting his first goal for the club just four minutes into his debut.

But Brighton snatched a draw at the death thanks to a 90th minute penalty from Pascal Gross, to earn Graham Potter's side a 1-1 draw.

The sides will meet again in the Premier League on September 14.
