A fire has broken out at the former Acorns Health and Leisure Club in Copthorne Road, Crawley, just one year after a 'suspicious' fire at the same location.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said:
“Last night at 9.32pm we were called to reports of a fire at a derelict property in Copthorne Road, Crawley.
“Joint Fire Control mobilised two fire engines from Crawley, the aerial ladder platform from Horsham, and crews from Surrey Fire & Rescue Service to the scene.
“Upon arrival the crew found a fire on the first floor of the building. Firefighters extinguished the fire using a high pressure hose reel.
“Crews remained on scene damping down and turning over and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no further hot spots.
“Sussex Police were also in attendance providing traffic control.
“The last crew left the scene just before midnight.”
