Fire crews battle flames at property near Pease Pottage

Firefighters have been dealing with a blaze at an address near Pease Pottage this morning (Wednesday, 13). West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire involving a domestic property off Forest Road, at around 9.30am. Flames reportedly began in the roof of the property, which was well alight by the time crews arrived. There were at least five fire engines at the scene, with crew from Crawley, Horsham, Turners Hill, Billinghurst, Surrey, Salfords and Reigate. Officials said they used a water carrier from Burgess hill and the Technical Rescue Unit used a drone to provide thermal imagery to crews on the ground. Residents living nearby were asked to keep windows and doors closed. As of 10.45am, firefighters remained at the scene working to extinguish the fire.
