Fire Near Horsham Railway Track Causes Disruption

A fire reported next to a railway track in the Horsham area is causing disruption to services going though West Sussex.

Southern Rail said a piece of line side equipment is smoking beside the track outside Horsham station.

Power to the railway in this area has been restored, but fewer platforms are able to be used.

Network Rail engineers were making their way to the site to investigate at around 11.25am.

It means fewer trains than normal are able to run through Horsham station.

Services between London Victoria and Horsham via Dorking will not run between Dorking and Horsham.

Services between London Victoria and Bognor Regis / Portsmouth / Southampton Central via Three Bridges will run, but will be subject to delays.

A message on the train operator's website reads:

"There may be short notice alterations to Thameslink services as some will terminate at Three Bridges and some will run through to Horsham. This will be determined by the amount of space in Horsham station at the time, as this disruption will cause congestion.

"Rail replacement buses have been requested to run between Horsham and Dorking, calling all stations.

"To help with your travel, your tickets will be accepted on METROBUS services between Horsham and Three Bridges / Dorking, and Thameslink and Southern services mutually"

**UPDATE 1.15pm**

All lines have reopened.

Trains may be delayed or cancelled while services return to normal.

Disruption is expected to continue until approximately 14:00.
