Firearm Recovered As Armed Police Arrest Suspect in Hove

Armed police were involved in the detention of a suspect in Hove this evening (July 24) in an operation where a firearm was recovered.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, in connection with an incident earlier in Cromwell Road.

Police say that both armed and unarmed officers attended the street, along with the ambulance service as a precaution.

The road was closed for a time, and officers have thanked the public for their patience and understanding.

Officers added that they believe this was an isolated incident, and that there is no threat to the wider community.

There are currently no further details about the arrested man.
