Firefighters battle large open blaze on Chailey Common overnight

East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service have been battling flames on a large patch of land at a nature reserve near Haywards Heath overnight (Wednesday, 13). Four engines, two Landrovers and a Command Unit from East and West Sussex attended the fire on Chailey Common, Haywards Heath Road, at around 1.25am. Firefighters worked with beaters and hose reals to extinguish the area alight, measuring 30m x 60m. Crews reportedly left the scene at around 5.30am. An investigation is taking place to establish the cause of the fire.
