Firefighters battling two acres of woodland alight in St Leonard's Forest near Horsham

Firefighters have been battling flames in St Leonard's Forest near Horsham this afternoon (Friday, 29). Officials reported two acres of woodland alight at around 2.10pm. Crews from Billingshurst, Crawley and Horsham are at the scene with off road vehicles from Crawley, Haywards Heath, Horsham and East Grinstead.

Firefighters have been battling flames in St Leonard's Forest near Horsham this afternoon (Friday, 29).

Officials reported two acres of woodland alight at around 2.10pm.

Crews from Billingshurst, Crawley and Horsham are at the scene with off road vehicles from Crawley, Haywards Heath, Horsham and East Grinstead.

People who live nearby are asked to keep windows and doors closed.

Our crews remained at the scene near Springfield Lane off Forest Road at around 3.40pm.

They are reportedly using jets and beaters to extinguish the flames.
