Crews from two locations in West Sussex were called to a fire in a restaurant in Horsham early this morning (August 3).
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters attended the town's Market Square at 5.12am.
Crews using three engines were brought in from the town itself, and from Billingshurst.
Firefighters discovered smoke coming from the first floor, and entered the building wearing breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire using jets and hose reels.
By 6.30am, service chiefs reported that the fire had been brought under control.
Crews remained on the scene for some time, to allow damping down operations to take place.
