West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with a fire in an industrial unit in Yapton this evening (Tuesday).
Crews from Littlehampton, Arundel, Bognor and Petworth have been at the scene in Yapton Road since around 8.27pm.
Officials said the blaze involves around 40 tonnes of waste inside a building, which has been sectorised to bring the fire under control.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used four covering jets, as well as a telehandler to remove waste for turning over.
The water carrier from Petworth and a water shuttle were also in use.
Nearby residents have been asked to keep windows and doors closed.
Crews remained at the scene until 11.46pm when the fire was declared to be out. An inspection will be carried out this morning to ensure that is still the case.
