Five arrests made following car chase along A27

Police have arrested five people after officers chased a reported stolen car along the A27 from Worthing to Littlehampton yesterday afternoon (Sunday, 19). The vehicle, a Peugeot Allure, was reported stolen along with a Vauxhall Astra, car keys and a wallet from a house in Carnegie Gardens, Worthing. The Peugeot was located by road policing units being driven in Ferry Road near Littlehampton Marine at 2.40pm. Officers pursued it before making a tactical stop and forcing the car to stop in Lineside Way. A 19-year-old man, who remains in custody, was arrested on suspicion of two offences of burglary, dangerous driving, driving a vehicle without the owner's consent, two other offences of theft of a motor vehicle, attempt theft, criminal damage, vehicle interference, no insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. A 15-year-old boy was detained on suspicion of burglary and being carried in a vehicle without the owner's consent, while another 15-year-old boy and two girls, aged 15 and 14, were arrested on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle without the owner's consent. Police said all four were released under investigation.
