PHOTOS: Floods In Sussex: Fire Service Rescues Seven People From Car Following Heavy Rain

Parts of Sussex saw significant flooding over the weekend, tempting some drivers to brave flooded areas to avoid longer journeys.

Following heavy rain across Sussex this weekend, East Sussex Fire & Rescue were tasked with rescuing six adults and a child from a car after they moved barriers and attempted to drive down a flooded road.

Lewes Fire Station reported similar incidents:

West Sussex County Council issued flood warnings on Saturday, particularly for Mock Bridge, near Shermanbury on the River Adur (below).
