Force Donates Replacement Van To Support Charity’s Vital Work

Volunteers providing a unique service for people across the county will receive a replacement vehicle donated by Sussex Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner so they can continue their vital work.

Sussex 4x4 Response is a registered charity which has provided help and support to communities during the Covid-19 pandemic and through recent floods.

The charity is part of the National 4x4 Response UK Network which specialises in off-road and severe weather driving, first aid response, and navigation and communication work.

It has supported emergency services and has working agreements with Sussex Police, East and West Sussex County Council, NHS trusts in Sussex, and Sussex Hospices.

As a result of the dedicated work carried out by the Sussex 4x4 Response team, Chief Constable Jo Shiner and Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne have agreed to provide the charity with a van to replace an older vehicle which can no longer be used.

Sussex Police Assistant Chief Constable Simon Dobinson said:

“We are delighted to continue our support for Sussex 4x4 Response.

“Through its work the team has reached communities which can be difficult to reach, and provided vital support through emergencies in recent times.

“The replacement van will allow the charity to continue its excellent work for the people of Sussex.”

Sussex 4x4 Response is a registered charity and works as part of the Sussex Resilience Forum. More information about the charity’s work is available online
