Free Activities And Food For Eligible Children In Hastings This Christmas

This Christmas, Active Hastings are offering free activities and food as part of their Christmas Activities and Food Programme.

The free multi-sports, arts and craft sessions take place on Monday, December 18 and Tuesday, December 19 at the Broomgrove Community Centre. The sessions are for young people (aged 7-14) in receipt of benefit-related free school meals.

The jam-packed sessions are a great way to try your hand at new sports or get crafty with the dedicated crafts team. Activities vary daily, examples include dodgeball, archery, unihoc, tennis, football, basketball, team challenges, Christmas crafts and much more!

Councillor Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said:

“Our free Christmas Holidays Activities and Food programme is a popular Christmas session. The sessions bring children together, so they can stay active over the Christmas period, enjoy a nutritious lunch and have fun with their friends, old and new.

“The Christmas sessions are part of the Government’s Holiday Activities and Food programme, which enables children to enjoy free fun activities and learn and develop new skills.”

Spaces are limited, so booking is essential. You can book your free space and free meal by visiting: https://eequ.org/experience/5185

With thanks to the Levelling Up Fund, Active Hastings will also be at the Broomgrove Community Centre on Saturday, December 9, 12-3pm, for their free Broomgrove Christmas Fun Day for all the family.

Throughout the afternoon you can take part in a pizza making workshop with Hastings Voluntary Action, make Christmas cards and badges with In2play, enjoy Christmas music with Soundcastle, visit Father Christmas and enjoy sports with Active Hastings.  No need to book, just turn up.

Active Hastings is hosted by Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, and brings together a wide range of local and national partners to ensure that everyone in Hastings can get active.

There are a range of exercise classes to suit everyone, visit the Active Hastings website for the list of activities happening near you (www.activehastings.org.uk).
