Free Repair Workshops For Brighton And Hove Residents

Free to attend workshops, where people can learn new skills to fix the things they have at home and keep those items in use for longer, are now available at weekends in the city centre.

The workshops are funded through the EU Interreg BLUEPRINT to a Circular Economy programme.

Covering everything from electrical, bicycle and clothing repairs to upcycling, furniture restoration, clothes swaps and even creating new items by knitting plastic bags, the ‘Circular Saturdays’ events can be viewed and places booked on Eventbrite

The events are run by local organisations and individuals who have a special interest in the circular economy and will continue until March 2023.

Cllr Pete West, Chair of Circular Brighton & Hove, said:

“From a sustainability angle, it’s important to keep items out of landfill as long as possible by repairing, re-using and recycling them.

"It makes financial sense too, especially considering the increased cost of living.

"The free repair workshops are proving extremely popular, and I urge anyone interested to sign up as soon as they can.”

The BLUEPRINT to a Circular Economy Project has a total budget of 5.6m euros, 3.8m of which were provided by the European Regional Development Fund via the Interreg France (Channel) England programme.
