Free Weight Loss Programme For Chichester Residents

New dates have been announced for the popular council-run health and wellbeing programme, which aims to achieve sustainable weight loss.

Weigh Better Life, which is run by Chichester District Council’s Wellbeing Team, takes place over 12 weeks, offering face to face and virtual support. It aims to help residents improve their health and wellbeing while focusing on sustainable weight loss.

Sessions are led by a Registered Nutritional Therapist with each course being tailored to the individual, considering their eating habits and lifestyle. Participants will have a free one-to-one telephone appointment to confirm their place.

Workshops in different locations start on the following dates:

•    Tuesday 29 March 6.30pm Loxwood, Microsoft Teams
•    Wednesday 30 March 11.30am The Grange, Midhurst
•    Thursday 31 March 10.15am Hampers Hall, Petworth
•    Tuesday 26 April 6.30pm Chichester, Microsoft Teams
•    Wednesday 27 April 6.30pm Westgate, Chichester
•    Thursday 28 April 9.30am Westgate, Chichester
•    Thursday 28 April 11.45am The Selsey Centre, Selsey

Philippa is just one of the residents who has benefited from this programme. She says:

"I can honestly say that it has been a totally positive experience and has spurred me on in my quest to achieve a healthier lifestyle and sustainable weight loss.

“It is rare to find a course that provides such a positive and educational experience and has the added benefit of helping me to lose weight.”

Councillor Roy Briscoe, Chichester District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services and Culture, says:

“Because each programme is tailored for the individual, after taking a considered look at their lifestyle and eating habits, we have found that they really work.

“By combining that with face-to-face and virtual support, residents stand a much greater chance of sustainably losing weight. Making important changes to their habits, with the help of a qualified nutritional therapist, will have a lasting positive impact on their health and wellbeing.”

To be eligible for the course you must be above a healthy weight (with a BMI of 25 to 40).

The 12-week course is free of charge and residents can sign up or for more information by contacting the Chichester Wellbeing team on 01243 521041 or by emailing: weighbetterlife@chichester.gov.uk
