Heartfelt Tributes Pour In For 'Perfect' Teen After Fatal Southwater Crash

Further tributes have poured in as a fundraiser is set up for 18-year-old Mia Craen, who lost her life after a collision in Southwater on Sunday (January 31).

As previously reported by More Radio, Mia died after her Fiat 500 collided with a tree on the B2237 Worthing Road.

Following her mother's touching tribute on Monday (February 1), Mia's brother Finlay Craen has asked for donations 'to help give her the send-off she deserves.'

As of Wednesday (February 3) morning, more than £13,000 had been raised - smashing the £1,000 target.

The teen, who passed her driving test in September, had been on her way to visit the family's new home in Southwater at the time of the incident and was looking forward to a new apprenticeship which would have begun on Monday (February 1).

Mia's friends have paid tribute to her.

Maddie said:

"Mia had the biggest heart and just had so much love to give. When you were with her she just made everything better, even on your darkest days and she never ever failed to support her friends when they needed it.

"She was the most amazing person and didn’t deserve any of this. She was such a huge part of my life and I don’t think any amount of time will fill the gaping hole she has left behind but I will cherish every single memory I have with her.

"Rest in peace, you were too perfect for this world. I will love you forever Mia."

Another close friend, Vicky, said:

“Mia was an absolute light in my life for 6 years, and an incredible friend to many many others. She had such an infectious laugh that I'm going to miss hearing and she was so so caring.

"She would always have my back no matter what. It's going to be so so tough not to see her bright happy face again in person but I know that I have made many happy and funny memories with her that I will cherish forever.

"Mia was and always will be an amazing part of my life and everyone else's."

Mia's family have launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her send-off. Photo: Craen family/GoFundMe.

On the GoFundMe page, Mia's brother asks for help to raise funds towards the cost of her send-off.

Finlay Craen said:

"As her brother, I want her to be remembered for what a kind and caring girl she was and the difference she made to the community and I would like to use the money raised to give Mia the send-off she deserves.

"After all, she dedicated her life to making other people smile so it is only right to do something for her. I'm sure if she was in the same situation she would do the same.

"She was a well-liked and loved girl known by many. Once she started speaking she'd never shut up and it won't be the same again not hearing her voice."

He added:

"Please even if you don't have anything to give, share this so it can reach as many people as possible so Mia can be an inspiration to all."

The family have so far surpassed their fundraising goal of £1,000, with more than £13,000 raised by Wednesday (February 3) morning.
