PCSO Daryl Holter, PC Zachary Hayns and Church Warden Imogen Lade

St Luke’s Church in Stone Cross has been awarded £500 from the Police Property Act Fund to go towards the ongoing community support work through its Church and Parish Centre.

PC Zachary Hayns and PCSO Daryl Holter recently met with church warden Imogen Lade to present the funds and discuss the great community work carried out by the church.

St Lukes proves a weekly foodbank service in partnership with Eastbourne Foodbank, actively engages with all of the schools, youth groups and community in the parish and provides a safe and trusted space for all members of our community.

Father James Vine said:

“This funding will support all users of our Church and Parish Centre. Recent building work has been necessary to enable its future use and we thank Sussex Police for this generous donation.”

PCSO Holter said:

“St Luke’s Church and Parish centre is well known for providing support to all who need it within our parish of Stone Cross with North Langney.

“I’m really pleased to have been able to help secure this funding, which will help make a difference to so many people in our community.”

East Sussex model railway group receives £300 to keep them on track

East Sussex PCSO Daryl Holter met with members of a local model railway society recently to present £300 of grant funding towards their latest project.

East Sussex Garden Rail Group has been awarded the funds from the Police Property Act Fund, which will go towards extending their outdoor railway track.

Group leader Colin Feist said:

“We have two projects to extend the outside railway, having been allocated more space, we will be purchasing track and timber thanks in part to the generous donation from Sussex Police.

“Our members on average are from the elder generation, who enjoy running larger scale model trains in a garden setting, or indoors given the space.

“We welcome all comers. Members attend with their trains to run who may not have the facility at home and over lunch we sit and discuss modelling projects, hints and tips, and the latest internet scams.”

PCSO Holter, who worked with the society to secure the grant, said:

“I am really happy to be able to help the society.

“Building the railway requires a diverse set of skills, such as researching the prototype, planning and drawing the project, manual construction including carpentry, track laying, building control panels and powering the track.

“There is always someone with at least one of these skills, and can help with any queries raised by the members.”
