Hailsham man found with up to £100,000 worth of drugs jailed

A man has been jailed for three years and four months after he was found with up to £100,000 worth of drugs. Police said James Elliott, 39, unemployed, of Hedley Way, Hailsham, was arrested in the early hours of January 9 after police stopped a black Fiat Bravo in nearby Hempstead Lane.
It's after police received information that Elliot was travelling in a vehicle that was involved in drug supply.
The car had been spotted on the A22 heading southbound from East Grinstead, according to police. Officers said Five large bags of white powder were discovered inside a black bin liner in the boot, weighing around 10kg.   The powder was later found to be Class B drug amphetamine, with an estimated street value of between £51,000 and £102,000. Police said Elliott pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class B drug when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court on January 10.   He appeared before Lewes Crown Court on March 5, where he was sentenced to 40 months' imprisonment and ordered to pay a £181 victim surcharge.
