Handyman Anas Al Mustafa, 42, has appeared at Lewes Crown Court charged with people trafficking after a number of Vietnamese people were found in the back of his lorry at Newhaven Port.

Emergency services attended the port on February 16 after seven migrants managed to break through a compartment inside the lorry and call for help.

Multiple police vehicles and ambulances attended the scene, along with Border Force and the coastguard.

Six of the migrants were taken to hospital, one in a serious condition.

Mustafa pleaded not guilty to the charges and will appear in court again for trial on August 5.
