Two Hastings beaches have been recognised for their facilities and quality.

Hastings Borough Council said it is is delighted to have retained Blue Flag status for another year for its Marina beach, in St Leonards.

The Blue Flag status recognises beaches for being clean, safe and having an excellent water quality.

The Marina beach has also, alongside Hastings’ Pelham beach, received the Seaside Award.

This award recognises both beaches for the high standards of facilities, they have to offer visitors and residents enjoying the seafront.

Cllr Colin Fitzgerald, deputy leader and portfolio holder for Regeneration, Culture and Tourism said:

“Continuing to keep our beaches clean and the bathing water of a high quality is a priority for the council and winning these awards for another year is a significant achievement for our borough.

"It is great to see so many residents and visitors enjoying the summer holidays on our beaches.

"Please do your part in protecting our environment, use the bins provided for your litter or take it home with you.

"Please also remember to ensure you continue to follow RNLI beach safety advice and keep social distancing.”
