The Hastings RNLI all-weather lifebot towed back a broken-down motor yacht on Friday (10) afternoon.
Crews were called to assist the 40ft vessel which had reported both an engine failure, and a man overboard, just under two nautical miles south east of Hastings Harbour, at around 3.14pm.
The casualty had been recovered from the sea by the time the volunteer team arrived and it was decided that no further medical assistance was required.
Officials said the yacht's engine couldn't be repaired at sea so the crew attachd an a line and towed the vessel, along with four persons on board, to Sovereign Harbour in Eastbourne.
Crew stood down at around 7pm.
Andy Davey, Hastings RNLI’s newly appointed Lifeboat Operations Manager said:
"During these difficult times the volunteer crew at Hastings RNLI have been committed to providing search and rescue cover to anyone in danger at sea off Hastings.
"Our training continues – while respecting the limitations of social distancing – and as this incident shows, we are still ready to respond to any calls for help from those who need our services."
