Battle Pub Transforms Garden Into 'Santa Extravaganza' For Children's Charity

The Railway pub in Battle is going all-out this Christmas for two special causes - as well supporting charity Children with Cancer, the pub is also trying to save itself.

Landlord, Byron, is busy transforming his pub garden into a Santa Express 'walk-through,' with giant wreath, snow globe, snowmen, elves and even a toddler train set and The Polar Express train - all with a few festive selfies in mind.

Guests can stop to decorate gingerbread, take photos and meet Santa in his grotto, all in the knowledge that they're helping a very special little girl who is being supported by the pub's chosen charity Children with Cancer.

Tilly was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukaemia, aged six, she's now nine. According to her friends at the pub, the 'little fighter' and her family have been through a lot, which is why The Railway is helping to raise money for her and the charity.

Alongside fundraising for the charity, Byron has made an emphatic plea for help.

Having taken on the pub a couple of years ago, and has since been trying to "dig it out of debt" as it's currently struggling to stay open.

He's hoping that by creating a 'winter wonderland' in the garden, locals will see fit to support the pub and help raise funds for two good causes.

Located at Station Approach in Battle, tickets for the Santa Express are available from November 30 until December 24, there will be a Christmas market on December 17th and a wreath-making workshop on November 25th,
