Hoard of bikes discovered in elderly man's Brighton garden

A hoard of bikes has been discovered following reports of unknown people camping in a person's garden in Brighton. Officers said they responded to concerns for a vulnerably elderly man at an address in Roedean on April 25. Upon arrival officers discovered an encampment and a large number of bicycles. The following day, police said they engaged with some people present who denied any involvement, and could not be directly linked to the situation. The encampment was dismantled and around 41 bikes and parts were seized. Anyone who believes the bikes are theirs, and can legitimate their claim with relevant documents, is asked to come forward. PI Karen Osborn said: "Our officers swiftly responded to concerns for an elderly man and subsequently discovered a large number of bikes – ranging from high to low value – which have now been recovered. "This demonstrates our commitment not only to preventing and detecting crime, but also to protecting vulnerable people in our communities." Anyone who thinks the property is theirs is asked to contact 101, quoting serial 831 of 25/04.
