As the creation of a new Local Plan for Horsham District gets underway, the local authority wants residents' thoughts on leisure facilities and its open spaces.
The district council said it will help complete the document that is intended to inform planners and developers in and around Horsham until the year 2036.
Included in the survey, covering the district's 204 square miles, are questions about public open spaces together with sports and recreation facilities.
The authority added that the plan should set the standards for new high quality open spaces that are provided as part of any future development.
Cllr Claire Vickers, the leading councillor responsible for planning and development, said:
"I encourage as many people as possible to respond to this survey so that we can understand the views of our residents and help to ensure that future recreation needs are met.
“The information provided by residents as part of this survey will help us to understand how open spaces are used now, and will provide up-to-date local information about the quality and accessibility of our open spaces in the District.”
The council member responsible for leisure and culture, Cllr Jonathan Chowen added:
"As a council we really value our open spaces, be they woodland areas, nature reserves, children’s play parks or allotments, and we appreciate just how important they are to enhance the health and wellbeing of residents and visitors alike, especially during these challenging times.
“So I am really pleased that we have this opportunity to gather as many views as possible on our existing facilities and to find out what people would like to see in the future to improve overall experiences."
The results of the survey will inform the published Assessment which will be made available on the Council’s website in due course.
