Firefighters accompanying six engines fought flames earlier today (February 19) that had broken out in a house in Broad Road, Lower Willingdon, Eastbourne.
The alarm was raised at 12.29pm today, after the roof of a property was discovered to be alight.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation and has been taken to hospital.
As of 3pm today, their condition was not known.
Officials working on behalf of building control and UK Power Networks also attended the scene.
Power needed to be isolated which affected a number of homes in the area.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service thanked people living locally for their patience, as the incident drew to a close.
The cause of the fire will be investigated, firefighters said.
