House Fire Tackled In Shoreham

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service

A neighbour has rescued a resident from flames that broke out this morning (March 12) in the bathroom of a house in Shoreham.

Firefighters from Worthing and Shoreham went to West Street after the alarm was raised at 9.26am.

Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) were also attending.

After one resident was taken out by a neighbour before fire crews arrived, firefighters said they quickly found another person inside, also bringing them to safety.

All residents have now been accounted for, according to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesperson said:

"The fire broke out in the first floor bathroom, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using one high pressure hose reel, a safety jet and a covering jet."

Soon after 11am, the service added that crews were staying at the scene for a time to ventilate the property, and use a thermal imaging camera to check for any further signs of fire.

Fire officers pleaded with local residents to keep windows and doors closed for the time being.
