Images Released After Purse Stolen And Fraudulent Purchases Made In Bognor

Police in West Sussex have released images of two men they'd like to speak to after a handbag was stolen and fraudulent purchases were made in Bognor Regis.

The purse is believed to have been stolen from the victim’s handbag, which was in an office in Felpham Community College, between 9.30am and 2.15pm on Wednesday 6 January.

Several bankcards from the stolen purse were subsequently used in purchases in Tesco in Shripney Road, Bognor, both in the main store, between 2.25 and 2.30pm, and in the petrol garage, at around 2.39pm.

The cards were also used in Sainsbury in Shripney Road between 2.45 and 2.55pm. Police would like to identify the men in these CCTV images.

The first image (above) was captured on CCTV at Sainsbury at 2.46pm on 6 January. The man is white, with a thick black beard, wearing a red beanie hat, a grey zipped jumper, blue jeans and white trainers. He is believed to have worn a cream face mask inside the store.

The second image (below) is from Tesco at 2.28pm on the same day. The man is white, wearing a dark coloured deer-stalker-style hat with ear flaps and a surgical mask. He was wearing a dark jumper, dark trousers and white trainers.

The stolen purse is leather and bright orange with ‘OSPREY’ in metal letters.

Anyone who can identify these men or has any information that could help officers investigating the case is urged to contact us. They can report online or by calling 101, quoting 787 of 06/01.
