The coroner's inquest will begin today (Wednesday, November 30) into the Shoreham Airshow disaster that happened on August 22, 2015, following years of delays.
Eleven people were killed and 16 injured when a Hawker Hunter T7 jet, a former military plane, crashed into cars on the A27 after attempting to perform a loop manoeuvre.
The pilot, Andrew Hill, survived the crash, however 11 men sitting in their cars on the motorway adjacent to Shoreham Airport were killed.
Mr Hill was charged with manslaughter by gross negligence, but found not guilty on all counts following a trial at Westminster Magistrates Court in London. He was found not guilty by a jury of 12 in March of 2019.
The coroner's inquest began on September 2, 2015 in Horsham and was promptly adjourned until March 2016.
It was postponed multiple times over the ensuing five years for different reasons, including gathering of evidence, Mr Hill's trial and the pandemic.
The inquest is expected to last until the week before Christmas and include evidence from eye witnesses and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
