Insurers Offer Reward For Safe Return Of Arundel Castle Treasures

Arundel Castle: cabinet containing treasures

In a new development, the company that insures the treasures of Arundel Castle said, via police, it is offering a reward for the safe return of the irreplaceable and historic items stolen on May 21.

Burglars, using ladders police believe were stolen beforehand, broke into the castle, the historic home of the Dukes of Norfolk, late at night before stealing priceless treasures, listed below.

Now, insurers acting for the owners of Arundel Castle have offered what police are calling "a substantial reward" for the safe return of all or part of the collection of items.

A reward is being offered on the basis that any items listed above are returned in their original, undamaged, condition.

There will also be "specific conditions", though these are currently unknown.

Contact information for the insurers is given at the foot of this page.

The collection comprised;

  • Mary Queen of Scots Rosary Beads;
  • Seven gold / silver-gilt coronation cups (George II, George III, George IV, William IV, George V, George VI and Elizabeth II);
  • Gold Earl Marshal’s baton;
  • Gold and enamel baton;
  • Other miscellaneous items including 10 silver-gilt Apostle Spoons, a silver-gilt casket with hunting and fishing scenes, and a silver-gilt mug.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Simon Jones at loss adjusters Quadra Claims Services Ltd.

Email info@quadraclaims.co.uk, phone 0161-838 6600.

A police appeal for information continues.
