Fire officers were scheduled to investigate today the cause of last night's blaze at industrial premises in Blackboys in East Sussex.

The county's fire and rescue service confirmed earlier this morning that crews had left the scene, having worked through the night.

At the height of the flames, eight appliances were on the scene of the fire on Lewes Road.

The initial call came in at 23:03 on Sunday evening to attend an incident at a commercial property.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel, one main jet and foam to extinguish the fire.

Crews divided up the fire into areas for action, and it was under control by 3am.

However, firefighters remained at the incident until 7:48am this morning, when the last fire engine left the scene.

A fire investigation was scheduled to take place later in the morning.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service added a message for business premises owners and supervisors.

"Businesses are reminded that despite the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) it is important for businesses to continue carrying out duties relating to fire safety in their premises.

All businesses should, therefore, review their fire risk assessment and Emergency Procedures/Plans in light of the impact COVID-19 may be having on their staffing levels, operating times, business processes and evacuation arrangements. "
