Arun District Council is investigating after four dead Burmese pythons were found dumped in a bin at Littlehampton cemetery.
The four snaked were found stashed in black bags by contractors working at the site, and its believed that they may have been frozen to death before being dumped.
The snakes, which were not poisonous, consisted of 2 Albino, 1 black and 1 reddish coloured Boa constrictors - each between 1.5m and 2m long, and weight approximately 5-6kg.
A post on the Arun District Council's Facebook page said:
"We are shocked by this horrendous act. If you have any information which would help investigations please contact cemeteries@arun.gov.uk."
