Police investigations have today stepped up after a reported armed burglary in a quiet residential street in Brighton.

Officers were told that three men forced their way into a property in Bevendean Crescent after knocking on a door at around 9.20pm on Tuesday (April 27).

Inside, the intruders used a knife and a baseball bat to threaten the residents as they began a search.

They took phones and laptops among other electrical items, and also stole expensive clothing.

The suspects then left the property and ran off to the north.

Police said no-one was injured during the burglary.

The three men, all described by officers as black or mixed race, were said to have been wearing surgical gloves and face coverings.

Two of them wore orange high visibility jackets.

Police are requesting information or witness reports either online, or by calling 101 quoting 1405 of 27/04.
