Jacob Ramsey was the best value Premier League goal scorer last season, new research has found.
The study by odds comparison site Odds Scanner analysed the yearly salary of the league’s top goal scorers in the 2021/22 season, to see which players had the cheapest ‘cost per goal’.
It found that Villa’s Jacob Ramsey took the top spot, with six Premier League goals to his name last season while on a weekly wage of £7,500 (£390,000 a year).
This meant he had the cheapest cost per goal of any player at £65,000.
Ramsey’s scoring abilities were rewarded with a new five-year contract at Villa in April of this year, taking his wages up to a huge £70,000 a week.
He was closely followed by Southampton’s Armando Broja and Brentford's Ivan Toney, as the following table shows.
Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson from Odds Scanner said:
“What this data highlights is that there are many Premier League talents that need a pay rise before other clubs come calling for their goal scoring prowess.
"It’s also interesting to see the variety of clubs in the top ten, with even some of the top clubs having players that deserve a better wage.”
