'Just Stop Oil' Campaigners Stop Traffic On Brighton Seafront

Campaigners from Just Stop Oil brought traffic to a slow crawl this lunchtime as they marched in the middle of the road, westbound along Brighton's Marine Parade.

They protested as wind and rain battered the seafront ahead of an amber weather warning for Storm Ciaran, which is forecast to bring winds of over 60mph tomorrow (November 2).

Today's yellow weather warning wasn't enough to stop the roughly 12 activists bringing a halt to lunchtime traffic on one of Brighton's busiest roads, escorted by a number of Sussex Police.

The march was hot off the heels of protests held in London this week, during which over 100 protestors were arrested.

Campaigners are demanding the government puts a stop to any new oil, gas and coal mining projects in the UK.
