A man has been left seriously injured after he was reportedly slashed with a knife in central Brighton.
At around 12.30pm on Friday December 22, police said they were called to reports of an attack in New Road.
A man in his 40s was found with a serious wound to his hand, and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 44-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers said they believed there were many witnesses to the incident, and they would like to speak with anyone who saw what happened.
